A night at the Basel Zoo
This weekend, the researchers of the NCCR Evolving Language presented their research involving the apes of the Basel Zoo to the visitors of the “Basel Zoo Nacht”!
On our booths, people could test the touch-screen and the eye-tracker devices used in experiments with the great apes, and challenge themselves with a quizz to know if they would be better than an algorithm at recognizing bonobo gestures.
A great opportunity that allowed us to exchange with people of all ages and backgrounds about why we study language evolution and how animals can communicate.
