How to join as an investigator?

An investigator provides a dataset of animal recordings, describes it in detail, and annotates the vocalizations.

Here is the expected timeline and key steps in the process:

Step 1: Sign the VoCallBase Collaboration and User Agreement as a Collaborator and upload it via the signup form.

Step 2: VoCallBase admin team approves the application and sends you further instructions together with an access token. This access token is needed for all interactions with VoCallBase resources.

Step 3: Upload your data following the instructions received at Step 2

Step 4: Generate a detailed handout using a Google form (~45 minutes)

Step 5: Practice with artificial examples to get familiar with CallMark before proceeding

Step 6: Annotate the dataset as formatted by the VoCallBase team (~8 hours)

Step 7: Re-annotate a subset of your dataset for intra-rater agreement assessment (~2 hours)

Now benefit from WhisperSeg!

You are now free to use WhisperSeg and the entire human-in-the-loop system!

The submitted annotation are now used to train and fine-tune the WhisperSeg model. Using your unique access token, you will gain unrestricted access to the WhisperSeg tool on CallMark, enabling them to automatically annotate the entire dataset.

Now you can correct the annotations, submit them again, and teach WhisperSeg even more about your dataset and species!

We will follow up!

We will follow up to gather feedback on your experience and provide valuable results for your research, including fine-tuning of the WhisperSeg model and an inter-annotator reliability test after the Investigator(s)/Annotator(s) submission on your dataset.
