A series of lecture on the origin and the diversity of language – UZH-i Ringvorlesung “Das Erste Wort”
The lecture series “The First Word” aims to make exciting research about the origin of human linguist competence accessible to a broad audience. In doing so, the individual sessions not only deal with the past (language emergence and language differentiation), but also with questions about the present and future of language. The lectures thus combine humanities topics such as the history of language origin myths and of language origin research with those of neurophysiology, behavioral and social research, and computational linguistics. More information about the series of lecture.
